As y’all know, I’m participating in this year’s AIDS/LifeCycle event, raising money to end AIDS, and riding my bike from here to Los Angeles. The ride’s taking place the first week of June. I was required to raise $3500 (did that several months ago); but I set a personal goal of raising $5000 (passed that one, too, a couple months ago). Since I met my goals, I haven’t been focusing too much on raising more money and instead on trying not to freak out about riding my bike for 545 miles over the course of a week!
I had a taste of what that might be like last weekend on the official NorCal Day of the Ride event. I joined hundreds of other crazy cyclist and rode seventy miles around Marin County. It. Was. Gorgeous. And exhausting.
Even though I’ve reached my goals, turns out that if I’m in the top 545 fundraisers, I get a special cool gift! Right now, I’m in the top 250 and gotta secure my spot for these cool gifts. So this is my plea that if you haven’t already donated, please consider doing so! And, in all seriousness, I don’t really care about the gifts but I do care about ending HIV/ADIS and the stigma around it, public health, public health education, and the LGBTQI+ community. And if you’re reading this, I’m guessing you care about those things, too, so c’mon. Even a donation as small as twenty bucks will be immediately put to good use.
I’m planning on posting on Instagram while on the ride, so feel free to follow me there for updates. And thanks for your support!
